Cataracts can cause blurry vision and increase the glare from lights. If
a small residual prescription cannot be tolerated, laser eye surgery
should be avoided. The surgeon would then prescribe an eye drop that
would prevent infections and inflammation if it is necessary. Should you
need cataract surgery for both eyes, you can have your second cataract
operation after two to four weeks. Femtosecond lasers are sometimes now
used in a preparatory stage before going through to the operating
theatre. Leisurely exercise such as walking is recommended straight
away.
If you would like to do this, we will reduce our surgical
fee by a set amount per eye treated and your personal eye doctor will
charge you a separate fee for their care. Under local anaesthetic your
surgeon will break the cataract into small pieces using ultrasound and
then remove them through a small cut. If the outcome cannot be corrected
by medications or external surface corneal surgery, the only way of
restoring vision may be a corneal transplant. Once your doctor confirms
that the surgery was successful, you will be allowed to go home, but
must be driven by a family member or friend. This complication requires
further specialist surgery.
The eye may be slightly red, but
this usually settles over one to three weeks. You can read or watch TV
right away, but things may look blurry. I understand that bespoke laser eye surgery
can provide excellent results. It is very important that you contact
your doctor immediately on the first night after surgery if you are
having severe pain or if your vision is getting worse and not better.
Cataract surgeons are constantly evaluating postoperative data to
personalize the lens calculation formulas in order to achieve better
refractive results. Cataracts do not grow back, but in some cases, the
clear, thin tissue that holds the intraocular lens in place can turn
cloudy, months or even years after cataract surgery, causing vision to
blur again.
Modern cataract surgery is performed as a keyhole
procedure meaning it is extremely safe and serious complications are
rare. Once any final testing has been performed, we will demonstrate how
to use your post-operative eye drops and medications and explain any
restrictions you may have following your procedure. Back to TopDo you

Have you considered lasik eye surgery
to correct your vision? On arrival a series of checks will be
conducted. Their market share is currently much smaller than that of the
other two materials.
Another reason would be if the IOL
shifted out of position inside the eye. Besides age, other causes
include injuries, certain medicines, and some kinds of radiation.
Measure the axis and amount of corneal astigmatism by keratometry or
topography. There are several different techniques, and acronyms, but
all types of Laser Eye Surgery include the use of excimer lasers to
re-shape the surface of the cornea and alter the way light enters the
eye to correct vision. Experience freedom from glasses by having cataract surgery with the UK's best surgeons. They do not always affect vision, but if they do, surgery may be needed.
With LASEK, the outer layer of the cornea is removed and then replaced;
it will need a few days to regenerate following surgery. The lens helps
focus light rays on to the light-sensitive cells within the retina at
the back of your eye. Some are more suitable for Lens Replacement. In
this case an alternative treatment may be suggested. Blurriness happens
because the lens focuses the image in front of the retina. A
comprehensive range of treatments are available to treat eye conditions
including lens replacement surgery as well as simply changing your glasses.
With this method, ultrasonic energy travels through the phaco tip to
break apart the cataract. For example, if you have a very high or
complex prescription or risk factors such as diabetes, high street
chains may be less likely to treat you. For many people, a cataract will
have no real impact on day-to-day life, and in such cases, it is not
recommended to have a cataract operation unless the impact on vision
worsens. You may wear special eyeglasses for a few days after surgery to
prevent you from poking, rubbing, or scratching your eye. It occurs as
you age and your lens becomes less flexible and less able to focus on
nearby objects.
Ultrasound is used to dissolve the natural, cloudy lens. Undergoing eye laser surgery
is a great way to improve your vision and your overall lifestyle.
You'll also need to wait until you've fully recovered from the
anaesthetic and ensure you're not taking any pain medication that could
make it unsafe for you to drive. The lenticule size and shape is
adjusted to the refractive error of the patient. Monofocal lenses are in
sharpest focus at only one distance. You will need an eye test three to
six weeks after your operation as you may need new glasses.
You will have another follow-up exam a week later. It is generally
accepted that all forms of multifocal IOL are associated with more
optical side effects than monofocal IOLs. We will have staff in the
carpark ready to guide and help you. The limiting factor for extreme
prescriptions is the thickness of the cornea, which will be measured at
your consultation. This usually allows you to have treatment with a
little break from your normal life.
